Good morning! The clocks have gone back and I can’t sleep anyway. We have been going through the Bay of Biscay and the ride has been bumpy to say the least! In fact, the ship is chopping and bopping so much that last night’s show had to be changed to a different one due to there being too much dancing in the planned one. The replacement show was “The King of Swing” and it was excellent. The gym was also closed! This is my 4th cruise and the first time I have ever set foot in the gym, so we were a bit disappointed and ended up at the buffet in time for afternoon tea!
Anyone familiar with cruising knows that the food never stops and, as one cruise director told my Mom, You come on as passengers and you leave as cargo! However, we have discovered that there is actually a 30 minute period when the food does stop due to the cleaning and changeover of the buffets. It is from 6am to 6:30, which is now for me. I think I can last the distance though…!
Yesterday was our first of three sea days and the weather was cold, rainy and grey. The morning was not too bad and we got our walk on the Promenade done, then breakfast. Alan has very kindly agreed to taking the Ballroom Dance lessons and we learned the waltz yesterday. It is difficult enough to dance on a moving floor when you know how and I have to compliment Alan on his tenacity and balance. And he can waltz now! Today – the Cha Cha!
Next on my agenda was Line Dance class, this was huge and might be divided into another advanced class, good fun either way though. Especially with the floor swaying down when more than 40 dancers are doing a grapevine to the right!
Unfortunately, I must admit to being a wee bit seasick! I never expected that and did not pack anything like Pepto Bismol. Silly me….. However, it is not enough to make me miss anything and I am mainly ignoring the slight discomfort of constant nausea! The rocking motion of the bed is really nice and I think I will go back and enjoy it some more, at least til the buffet opens!
At a health talk we walked by yesterday, we heard the speaker quote someone – I could not catch who it was, but the quote was:
“Everyone should walk their dog everyday - even if they do not have a dog.”
